Blackbutt Reserves stunning wildlife exhibits, variety of flora and fauna, extensive range of tracks and trails and free entry make it a unique facility in the area, available for everyone to enjoy.

Blackbutt Reserve offers a range of recreational opportunities including barbecues, playgrounds, picnic facilities, photography, bird watching and peaceful areas for relaxation.

Wildlife Exhibits – state of the art wildlife exhibits provide opportunities for visitors to experience an array of animal species including koalas, wombats, kangaroos, wallabies, emus, blue tongue lizards, lace monitor, diamond python and a variety of native birds

Blackbutt Kiosk- cappuccinos, tea, coffee and cold drinks, Australiana and Blackbutt branded souvenirs as well as ice blocks and confectionary from the centre. Friendly volunteers provide maps, information brochures and fact sheets, you may also purchase feed for the wildlife

Public Koala talk – 2pm daily on the boardwalk

Private Animal Encounter – Bookings essential and fees apply

Picnic Areas/Shelter Hire – Picnic Shelters, BBQ areas and grassy open spaces perfect for a family functions and picnics. Sheltered BBQ areas are available to hire for a relaxing picnic, birthday party, corporate function, wedding or naming ceremony

Critter Encounters – Provide hands-on fun for onsite parties and events. Qualified staff provide interactive learning experiences and the opportunity to meet and learn about native animals. Great for kids parties and can be packaged with shelter hire. Bookings essential and fees apply

Junior Ranger Fun Day – a free educational experience for kids held each school holidays. Hands-on activities and fun games with an environmental focus. Supported by Newcastle Permanent Building Society.
