Cultural experience – African Art and Craft – Gallery Visit
2/14 Bellbird Avenue , Terrigal NSW 2261
Description
Sanaa Afrika is an African art and craft gallery dedicated to promoting beautiful genuine contemporary art work from Africa. A visit to our gallery with teenagers can link in to a number of things : Africa is discussed at school, in the media, planning a holiday, share memories of a visit, explore new cultures together and more. Browse the artwork, read the artist profiles and background information on the artwork, ask questions from gallery staff, and share knowledge.
During the year we hold events and talks such as the recent Pavement Art competition (refer image) and evening information session such as the recent one about travelling in Africa. Our opening hours are Wednesday to Friday from 11am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm. We also open for group visits by appointment.
We are the only gallery in Australia that focusses on contemporary African art and we operate nationwide. We exhibit at major art exhibitions and also sell online. We publish a monthly newsletter and are active in social media. We source art from across the continent and work direct with the artists or their representatives and operate on fair trade principals. The variety in our collection shows African art is more than just masks.
Our gallery is located in Bellbird Avenue, a side-street of Terrigal Drive with the Shell Petrol station on the corner, between Terrigal High School and the Marine Discovery Centre. Easy to incorporate in a walk around Terrigal or come by car or van, there is plenty of shaded parking and also wheelchair access.
