Hawkesbury Regional Museum

8 Baker Street , Windsor NSW 2756
Description

The Museum has a changing program of exhibitions and public programs including talks, guided tours and events for people of all ages. It also has a long term exhibition on the themes of River, Land, People, which paints with a broad brush the main events and personalities that shaped the region.;

The Hawkesbury area has a long history including a rich indigenous cultural heritage established by the Darug people, as well as a distinctive built environment dating back to the earliest days of the colony. The Museum conserves and interprets that heritage to residents and visitors, many of whom have family links to the area.

Opened in May 2008, the Museum is situated on a land grant made by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1811. It is located in an award winning contemporary building and the Georgian building ‘Howe House’.

Volunteering opportunities are available in a variety of areas and we offer excellent training and support.
