Barangaroo Light the Night
Walumil Lawns, Barangaroo Reserve, Towns Place (Entrance) , Sydney NSW 2000
Description
Now in its tenth year, Leukaemia Foundation’s Light the Night is a unique event bringing Australia’s blood cancer community together in more than 100 locations to remember and reflect during a moving ceremony and short lantern walk.
Last year, more than 35,000 people from every Australian state and territory attended 143 Light the Night events.
Those attending raise money beforehand to help give local families facing blood cancer the emotional and practical support that will light the way forward.
Families and friends will come together at dusk on Friday 6 October to carry one of three coloured lanterns; gold to remember a loved one, white for their own blood cancer journey, or blue to show they care.
Thanks to its supporters, the Leukaemia Foundation helps more than 750 families from regional Australia each year by providing free accommodation in capital cities so they can access life-saving treatment at major hospitals.
The charity also offers free transport to medical appointments, counselling, information, education and practical support to families when they need it most.
Today another 35 people will be told they have blood cancer. Be the light in their darkest hour.
