Discover geoscience through curriculum-linked, hands-on activities that keep students captivated, focused and looking for more. Our Education Centre is an ideal, free, school excursion destination. It provides interactive activities to a range of school-aged audiences and highlights geoscience as an interesting and relevant part of our lives. Our Education Centre is staffed by a small team of professional geoscience educators. As well as general school programs, we can tailor programs to develop an excursion that suits your needs. We are more than happy to cater your visit to the topic or style that suits you. We also have a superb collection of world-class minerals, rocks, fossils, geoscience maps, satellite imagery and historical equipment on display in our public foyer. Geoscience Australia undertakes a wide variety of research into fields such as natural hazards, mineral exploration, energy resources, greenhouse gas storage, Australia’s marine boundaries and groundwater. Opening Times The Education Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Closed weekends. Admission is free. Bookings for the Education Centre are essential. Duration of general school visits is approximately 1.5 hours with a maximum group size of 50 to 60 students.
